Covid-19: the other side of the pandemic
Governments at all levels have been forced by the corona virus pandemic to close their schools as part of measures to safeguard the lives of the citizens. When the pronouncement was made many have assumed that it was going to be for a specified time. However today even the students and pupils at the basic, senior secondary and tertiary levels have now become fed up with over stay at home doing nothing. Thanks to the initiative by the Yobe state government to introduce the virtual school via radio Yobe. It was meant to close the gap created by the school closure. On the other side of the issue the covid-19 phenomenon has made some children especially the grown up ones to be on their toes to strive hard and make ends meet. I was driving along a road when I saw some children who happened to be my wife's students at a secondary school in Damaturu busy working at a construction site. You need to see how they were mixing concrete, raising blocks up. I was really impressed by the zeal they exhibited that yes they can depend in themselves for living rather than constituting nuisance to the society by engaging in social vices such as burglary, pick pocket or some form of irresponsible behaviours that will attract them curse from the society.
